Review: Creature of the Night

Title: Creature of the Night
Author:  Anne Stinnett
Publisher: Curiosity Quills Press
Release Date: March 13th, 2018

What promises to be the most sensational season yet of the controversial reality show Creature of the Night is about to premiere. The competition will be fierce and the challenges bloody because the twelve contestants are competing for more than a check and a bit of fame; they are competing for immortality.
To earn it, they will vie for survival before an audience that lurks like a pack of fiends, ready to repay any sign of weakness with jeering applause. At the same time, they must impress a panel of vampire judges, the most approachable of whom is a nightmare out of history. But the real predators are the producers.
While the audience looks forward to brutal good times, the contestants gear up to be their most outrageous, watchable selves. They have come to live, and to die. Their ranks include an intellectual desperate for more time, a vampire rights advocate on the verge of disillusionment, and a ballerina who thinks she has nothing to lose.
Under scrutiny from the bickering vampires and bloodthirsty audience, the competitors must navigate potentially lethal challenges and, if they ever hope to become undead, stay alive.

Thoughts...
Streaming now, in front of a live studio audience. 12 Contestants compete in a vampire competition run by vampires, to be turned into "Creatures of the Night"....This book is written like a reality tv show, including confessionals, talking with audience members, interviewing contestants, and of course commentary from the judges. I honestly felt like I was in the audience the entire time. The book has multiple pov's, which seems hard to follow but each character is completely different. The character development makes the book because they're contestants we get background information, and also find out why they're competing...which I must say made me like some characters more than others. I loved reading this book, and getting to know the audience, judges, and the host. Who gets upset because an audience member is immune to his vampire charm. HE gets so flustered, it hilarious watching him try to intimidate a teenager only for her to rebuff him! That's right she's just not that into you! But she's also only 16....I wish we got to know a little bit more about her. The contestants are all over the place ranging from the dad who wants to make his kids proud to the high strung actress who is looking for her big break...There is plenty of gore, so be ready for it. Honestly sometimes the gore was a bit much but it fit so perfectly in the book. The contestants went through possibly 6 challenges, and two people were eliminated each round? During one competition the contestants had to open a vein on a participant, and drink their blood...it was hard reading this chapter..it was so descriptive, and gross! The contestants were super obnoxious at this point, those who didn't make well you can guess... If you enjoy reality tv or just a ridiculous good book read this!! 4/5
