Review:: Piggybacker by Mikki Noble

Title: Piggybacker (Vessel of Lost Souls, #1)
Author: Mikki Noble
Publication date: January 28th 2019
Genres: Thriller, Urban Fantasy, Young Adult

TOO LATE TO SAVE HIS LIFE.
NOT TOO LATE TO BRING HIM BACK.

Everyone thinks Marley tried to take her own life, that is, except Marley. After her mother sends her to a youth center for troubled teens, she starts hearing the voice of a boy who claims he was murdered and begins questioning her own sanity. The voice is Gavin, a seventeen-year-old boy who promises Marley he can help her find the truth about what happened the day she supposedly tried to kill herself—if she completes a resurrection spell in the next four days.

Upon discovering Gavin’s death in the newspaper, Marley realizes she’s not hallucinating, and that she has a chance to save Gavin’s soul and clear her name. The task seems simple: complete the spell, then she and Gavin are free, right? But a powerful, unseen force is determined to stop her, and soon Marley finds herself following clues from the universe to find ingredients for the ritual to save herself and her newfound friend, and most of all, to find the truth about what really happened that day.

Piggybacker is the first in Mikki Noble’s spell-binding Vessel of Lost Souls trilogy, and promises a thrilling mystery with powerful enemies, broken relationships, captivating magic, and two souls both caught up in a plot beyond any they could ever imagine.

My thoughts...

You ever read a book, and can't wait for the next book!?!?! Welp that was me reading Piggybacker, the plot was my favorite! I'm not sure what I was expecting due to the title of the book but I sure got a surprise. Marley is trying to put her life back together after struggling to understand why people think she tried to kill herself. Marley knows she would never to something like this, especially after what happened to her father. But mom doesn't believe her because the evidence looks like Marley is suicidal. We see Marley navigating the world and trying to fall back into her old routine but she's hearing voices from a dead boy.  As if this couldn't get any worse! Marley is trying to win her mother's trust back, keep herself sane, and convince her friends that's she's fine. All while helping the dead boy solve his murder, and save herself. There were so many layers to Piggybacker, the characters, friendships, a budding romance. The relationship between mom and daughter was tough to read. You just wanted to help Marley, help her mother understand. A romance that you want to root for except one person is dead but ehh people have made stranger relationships work. We learn that the dead boy's name is Gavin, and he will be within seven days permanently unless Marley helps bring him back from the dead. Gavin can only exist in limbo for seven days surviving off of Marley's soul.. Marley's reality is a lot of peoples reality, that we don't talk about. Here is someone who it seems tried to kill herself but that is simply not true.  Marley has to convince everyone around her, she did not try, and she is okay. Everyone is walking on egg shells, trying not to re-traumatize or trigger her which puts her on edge. This is the first book in the Lost Soul Series, and I cannot wait for the next book. My rating 4/5

#Cover Reveal::Confessions of a Sex Kitten

Confessions of a Sex Kitten
Mila Rossi
Publication date: August 30th 2019Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Striving to be the sex kitten Avery Taylor portrays on her blog is a lot harder than she imagined, but having a hot, new neighbor move in next door sure gets her imagination going. His green eyes alone would give a girl the vapors. And yet, getting involved with someone so close just isn’t in the cards for Avery, even if her inner kitten is telling her that all rules are meant to be broken once. Or twice. Or as many times as it takes to get familiar with James’s one billion abs.
James Mardin moves to NYC to focus on family and work. Quirky Avery just plops into his life out of nowhere. She’s the last thing he needs, and yet, he can’t seem to stay away from the damsel down the hall, especially after he stumbles upon her secret blog. A sexy goofball lusting after him? It just wouldn’t be proper if he didn’t make her fantasies come true.
With views to die for, neighborly favors to return, and secrets to uncover, James and Avery are in for a treat. The attraction is evident, but is it enough to get them through snarky family remarks, burning buildings, and the heat of a typical New York summer?

Tour: Unlucky in Love by A.J. Renee

Unlucky in Love
Author:  A.J. Renee
Publication date: January 30th 2019

Lucky in Love.

That’s the name of the dating app I picked, hoping to find Mr. Better Than Average so I can hold off planning my future as a cat lady.

I’ve been distracted eyeballing a tall, dark, and handsome Latin hottie who works in the library with me. He is way out of my league, and a woman has needs if you know what I mean.

Finding a man shouldn’t be hard when all I have to do is swipe left or right. It’ll weed out the slimy men who have Bad Date written all over them.

Yeah, I’m learning quickly that I’m rather unlucky in love after all. The men I pick need warning labels, kissing lessons, and a good talking-to about manners.

Should I throw in the towel, or will this series of bad dates be exactly what I need to win Mr. Right?

My thoughts...

Where do I start I??? I really liked this book,, and I don't typically read new adult, contemporaries, or romance book but this was a great change. I really loved Izzy, she reminded me of a free loving version of who I think I am...I know this is very telling of me.

Any who, we meet Izzy after she's had one too many bad dates, and met frogs instead of princes. Izzy is at the end of her rope with dating in general but her roommie/bestie Val talk her into giving love one more chance.. Love, this was Izzy's main goal, she is ready to be someone's number one lady not just a random hookup. But Izzy is perpetuating the "hookup" stereotype by using Tinder, instead of Bumble or Coffee meets Bagel or just hear me out Farmers Only( I know what you're thinking but have you ever heard anything bad happening due to Farmers Only??).... Like woman if you're looking for love, stability, romance try a different dating app! I might have jumped the gun because she didn't actually use Tinder but an app called Lucky in Love...(its totally similar though..)

But nope Izzy decided to stick with Lucky in Love...I'm not saying she deserved the dates, which were terrible but ehh… I totally understand she's in grad school, and works on campus but come one! Izzy had a great guy but they hadn't met in person, which was totally fine because Izzy wanted to get to know them first. But then BAM! they meet he's still hot but a terrible kisser, I could feel her pain through the text...Like it was bad, I mean Val never let her forget that she kissed him and almost died... Girl, both of us almost died! Lolz, I loved Mario, and yes it was totally predictable but he seems like a great guy, and perfect for Izzy! I hope they make it, and all that gushy love mess works out..

I did not like the sex scenes at all! I was okay with the kissing, heavy petting, but bruh the actual, factual sex scenes...Hated it! That was one of the reasons, I do not read new adult romance books but I still loved Unlucky in Love. The sex scenes did not take away from the book, I personally could have done with out them but I digress. And yes, I could have skipped them but that's not how I read books! My rating 4.9/5

(yes, I took away .1 for the sex scenes don't judge me)
