Silver Dagger Tours + Giveaway: Something Wicked

Something Wicked
by Emery Nicolson
Genre: Paranormal Romance

The winds of change are blowing... And something wicked is brewing in the dark.
Millie Lockhart is descended from a long line of powerful witches but that doesn’t mean she has the foresight to avoid being stood up by her blind date, nor the courage to change her miserable life.

Stuck in a rut and unappreciated by her family, Millie must make a choice when fate throws the criminally sexy Colm Walker her way. A choice between a man who is a complete anathema to her family – but makes Millie feel alive - or to languish in her status quo.

Saying yes to Colm Walker could make all of Millie’s dreams come true... Or it could cost her everything.

Including her life.

Something Wicked was originally published as a 20,000 word novella back in 2015. It has been modified and extended into a full-length novel of over 65,000 words.

This book is written in British English which means British spellings and idiom.

It feels like I’ve just fallen asleep when I’m awoken by someone obnoxiously ringing my doorbell, over and over and over again.
Blinking sticky eyes open, I roll over and check the time on my phone screen. Seven o clock! Who in the right bloody mind goes knocking on someone’s door at that time on a Saturday? It’s cruel! It’s unnatural! But whoever the knob head is they aren’t buggering off like I’d hoped they would, leaving me no choice but to get out of bed and answer the bloody door.
“Alright, alright! I’m coming!” I yell, as I stomp down the hall, and flick on a light before taking a peek through the peephole.
“Bitch!” I shout through the door as I start releasing the locks. There are quite a few, so it's a bit of a slow process, but when you live in a basement apartment, I feel you can’t be too careful.
“Stop your whining Lockhart! I’ve got to be at work in an hour and details can’t wait!”
Pulling the door open, I’m faced with the happy smiling face of my BFF Sarah. I fucking hate morning people, as a whole, but at least this pre-dawn menace has the decency to come bearing gifts.
“Do I smell bacon?” I ask, as she marches past me with a brown bag of goodness and a cup holder with two coffees.
“Hell yes its bacon. You think I’d be stupid enough to wake the bear without bringing a sacrifice?”

Emery Nicolson lives in the south of England with her husband, son and assorted fur babies. In her spare time, she likes to think about writing, binge watch tv shows, read and partake of pyjama-themed dance parties often while drinking spiced rum from a mug. Something Wicked is her first novel.

Blog Tour + Giveaway: Girl at the Grave

http://fantasticflyingbookclub.blogspot.com/2018/09/tour-schedule-girl-at-grave-by-teri.html

Title: Girl at the Grave
Author: Teri Bailey Black
Publisher: Tor Teen
Release Date: August 7, 2018
Genres: Young Adult — Historical, Mystery, Romance
Valentine has spent years trying to outrun her mother's legacy. But small towns have long memories, and when a new string of murders occurs, all signs point to the daughter of a murderer.

Only one person believes Valentine is innocent—Rowan Blackshaw, the son of the man her mother killed all those years ago. Valentine vows to find the real killer, but when she finally uncovers the horrifying truth, she must choose to face her own dark secrets, even if it means losing Rowan in the end.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My thoughts...
Ugh! we know how much I love drama, a love triangle and murder! Welp let me introduce Girl at the Grave, this book covered all three! Look at that cover, at soon as I saw it I jumped on board for the book tour!
I'm usually not the kind of person who reads historical fiction at all, those kind of books tend to erase Black people...this book is set in 1849! bahhaa! But I must say I did enjoy the book, except Sam...but we'll get to him later. Let's talk about Valentine Barron Deluca, the protagonist, she lost her mother tragically at an early age. Her mother was hanged for killing her childhood bestfriend, and local bank owner Nigel Blackshaw...Yeah that totally happens, which is one reason we never see Valentine's dad. He is very absentee, and welp not a good father at all. Valentine is a student at the most prestigious Drake University, with a benefactor paying her tuition. It used to be a boys only school but some progressive women, have opened doors for the young women to attend. Literally everyone hates this girl, at her school, she is never given a break. They make up rumors about why her mother killed Mr. Blackshaw but no one really knows. Valentine was 6 years old,  when her mother killed Mr. Blackshaw, and she is now 17. For 11 years she has had to deal with being an outcast.  Valentine has always wondered why her mother killed Mr.Blackshaw, and finally accepted that her mother was guilty..I mean after all she was hanged, right? Valentine has just been told that, someone else was there that night, and her mother was innocent. Now Valentine, goes on a secret search to clear her mother's name.
 Now let's talk about Sam Frye, whose families reputation is worse than Valentine's. But Sam has been her bff forever! He is truly the person,  she can lean on when she needs a friend...but ehhh! Didn't I mention they were 17 year olds? Like Sam is hunting for a wife, guess who fits the bill!!! Ding Ding Valentine, the girl he has always been there for, the one who grows more beautiful everyday.  At one point he becomes very cruel to her because he thinks/knows she likes someone else...gross! He also tells her that his brothers kiss a new girl every week, and basically they should promise themselves to each other...Oh! The kiss that Sam is talking about basically, will let him know that he can expect a future with  Valentine...Bruh not in 2018!
Rowan Blackshaw! Ugh, he is so swoon worthy! Teri definitely made Rowan, the son to be man, you want Valentine to have a happily ever after with. Yes, Yes, this is the son of the man Valentine's mom killed. But he is a total good guy, who falls for the daughter of the woman who killed his father...Everyone saw this happening, he stares at her all the time...very weird I know.  But in 1849, it is amazing! Any who Rowan and Valentine make contact and become great friends. But then drama because of course!
So drama right? Let' focus on romance drama, Sam gets BIG mad, please refer to paragraph 2. He eventually leaves her be for a while. Rowan on the other hand casually asks Valentine about Sam basically have you promised yourself to him? See so swoon worthy! So her is Valentine, falling for someone who is perfect in her eyes but also believes that she deserves Sam because she is willing to settle. I mean Sam has been there for her, and he is the safe choice...
Back to the main story everyone has secrets but someone is trying to destroy Valentine, and her future. Murders start happening, and Valentine looks guilty, we see her trying to navigate the world with little to no guidance. Valentine handles everything thrown her way, but she can't always make the best choices, right? I didn't even talk about the killer!?!?!
My rating 4.85/5
This was my first Teri Bailey Black and it will not be my last. You should definitely check out this book!
No, I’m not psychic nor do I claim to be. I’m just your average girl with an above average talent. Unfortunately, that talent had me seeing a murder I was never meant to see, which in turn, led me two of the sexiest men on the planet – Det. Denton Archer and PI Mitchell Caldwell. When Denton asked for my help on the case, I jumped in with both feet not realizing that that decision would change everything.
It's no wonder that Michele's first romance has a little sparkle of the stage tucked into its pages as she was a performer long before she got adicted to the page. Being a writer was not what she was supposed to be when she 'grew up' but then neither was a dancer. Her poor parents. They thought that when she toddled off to law school they'd bred a responsible, useful adult and instead they got a performer and word junkie.
She now writes full time in a studio surrounded by the whisper of wind in the trees and only intermittent interruptions from her young son, husband and hunger pangs. She's based in New Zealand (land of beaches and hobbits) loves chocolate, yoga, sunshine, her boys and happy endings.
