Not going to lie I totally judged this book by it's cover!!! It was too pretty not to notice. The last Summer of the Garret Girls follows four sisters – Des, Bea, Vi, and Kat – through the summer as they meet new people, try new things, discovers new things about themselves, and fall for people they didn’t expect. 

Told in multple POV's the book really pulls you in to the Garret Girls lives. People keep saying that this book is like the Gilmore girls plus any Sarah Dessen book and I totally agree.There were a ton of pop culture references which I think added a certain charm to the book and wasn't overly done. Each POV sounded different from each over and while there was obviously overlap between all of them it was never really repetitive.

Honestly The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls is  your typical summer YA contemporary with some pretty cute moments.What I really enjoyed was the fact that  the girls were named after Shakespeare characters, that there was a bookstore in the family, and that there was a lot of diversity in regards to sexual identity. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a feel good ya summer contemporary read.4/5

The Bookish Side At Camp (Part 1)

So this summer I worked at an all girls summer camp that I'm Just going to call Camp K. It was an awesome experience and I loved meeting all the campers and working with the people that I did, this was my second year working at Camp K and I'm glad I went back. Something that I noticed this year that I didn't notice last year was the abundance of books certain campers brought with them. One campers brought 8 books with her and by the time the 2 week session was done she read at least 5 of them!! Another Campers brought almost the same amount of books with her and finished half of them plus borrowed other campers books to read and finished those.

As an avid book reader I was impressed by the variety of books I saw being read throughout the camp. I was also impressed by the dedication to reading a lot of the campers had, seriously if it would have been allowed some of these girls would have never but their books down. However as a camp counselor it was frustrating at times when I had to get girls to interact and engage with one another and all they wanted to do was read. O_o We were outdoors and sometime it was like pulling teeth to get girls to appreciate the fact that they were at camp surrounded by nature or join in on team discussions. I encourage reading but there's a time and place for everything and for the most part camp wasn't the right place....unless it was Chill time or Siesta 

The age range for the campers at Camp K is from 9 to 15 and then you had the CIT's who are 16.For those of you wondering CIT stands for counselor in training, essentially the CIT's were 60% camper and 40% counselor they were learning the ropes to become a counselor while enjoying the perks of being a camper for one last time. .Once you moved on to the staff the ages varied from 17 to 24.The youngest was the one junior counselor who was 17.

So with all that said,Camp K had girls/woman ranging from 9 to 24..that's a pretty broad spectrum for books.What I loved was that you had a 9yr old reading Little Women,an 11yr old reading Carrie by Steven King,a CIT reading a book on complex math theories and the mysteries of math and almost all the "adult" counselors reading a variety of young adult books.It was super interesting to see the variety of books my fellow staff was reading and the campers as well.I decided that sometime in the near future I'm going to make a post with a list of books I saw the campers and staff reading.This post is pretty was my lead in for that post.

I was going to included the list of books in this post but the intro just grew and grew.I probably could talk/write nonstop about the campers,camp and my experience at Camp K but I decide to stick to the bookish side of camp.Stay tuned for my next post The Bookish Side At Camp K (Part 2).

Wow what an incredible, heartbreaking read that really messes with your mind until the very end. The writing, while not for everyone I'm sure, had me mesmerized. I'm a fan of verse novel or of books written in a similar fashion so I enjoyed We Are Liars.With that said be prepared while reading We A Liars it's written in a different and poetic way and it's full of carefully crafted imagery.  

We Were Liars is narrated by Cadence Sinclair Eastman who is  from a very wealthy, very perfect Sinclair family who summer on the privately owned Beechwood Island. Cadence shares memories about  happy summers spent on the island with her cousins Johnny, Merrin, and family friend Gat. The four call themselves The Liars. There's really not mush else to say about this book without giving away any spoilers. Seriously if you haven't read We Are Liars yet stop reading reviews and just go read it.

If you liked Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta then you'll love this book & if you haven't read Jelicoe Road yet go out and read it as well.* Warning don't read both books at the same time or back to back you may sob and then explode of feels*

 The book is filled with whimsy,heartbreak, more secrets to count and a story that will crush your soul while also leaving you a bit confused about what just happened. If all that sounds like your cup of tea check out We Are Liars.5/5

The Summer I Became a Nerd

When I fist heard about this book all I thought was OMG! A cheerleader who is a nerd? WTF!?! I’ve got to read this book!So while I did enjoy this book it wasn't what I expected.Yes the moral of the story is a good one.It's all about Being true to yourself, doing what makes you happy and to hell with people and their opinions. It's just that the main character bothered me from time to time.

 I really liked how the prologue gave us a little background on Maddie's history and how she came to be who she is.I admit she’s not easy to like at first but seeing her as she developed, learn her lessons and be the better girl that she is at the end makes me feel proud of her.The characters were honest and real and the development didn't feel forced or fake My favorite was by far Logan's best friend and Logan's mom.If you enjoy nerdy high-jinxes,larping and a pretty sweet story  check out The Summer I Became a Nerd.2/5

There's nothing better then a good summer read,except  reading a book that screams summer during winter.I'm in Chicago it's Janurary,cold and windy and while reading this book all i did was long for the summer time.
 Tess is best friends with Ellie and Adam and she comes off as the second banana to both of them Her best-friends convince her to get a summer job so they can all work together over the summer.As soon as Tess starts working at the hotel you know her summer is about to get interesting.From sneaking out to hang out with the Onslow boys, to growing as a person, the summer fun is just beginning!

I'm glad i decided to read The Summer Boys it was a bit slow in the beginning but picked up.Tess is a pretty likable main charecter who is kind,shy and just beginning to find her self in the story.Toby is a bit reserved and thoughtful he's very sexy and Tess has a major crush on him.I loved how the relationship of Tess and Toby grew it didn't seem overly cheesy it seemed natural and  It didn't really pick up the drama, till mid section of the book.The characters all seem so real and genuine my one of my favorites is Adam who is a complete sweetheart to Tess and the scene at the park made me wish i had a guy friend like him.The other favorite is Sean who i hope has a big part in the next book.

The cover is perfect for this book and conveys the message of summer time and love perfectly.I really enjoyed reading The Boys of Summer and can't wait for the next book in the series.Which is called An Endless Summer it takes place four years after The boys Of Summer and everyone's coming home!*Squeal*I can't wait to see how everyone turned out and if their all still friends.The Boys of Summer is easily up there with the likes of Jenny Han’s series, The Summer I Turned Pretty and the book Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah O.The book is a light read and I would highly recommend this one.4/5

So ever since reading Breathe and the Vincent Boy series  I've become hooked on Abbi Glines books.

Breathe was a heart warming  tale about Sadie and Jackson,Because of Low was heartbreaking story about Marcus and Willow with some twist and turns,and While It Lasts is an intense story about Cage and Eva. 

Cage York who's described as a sexy bad boy and Eva who's a sweet farm girl who is dealing with a lot emotionally. In Because of Low Cage was introduced as this womanizing man whore with a protective streak when it came to Low. In While it Lasts we learn that Cage York is more then a man whore with a big dose of bad boy edge he is loyal,caring, and deep down has a heart of gold for his loved ones

While it Lasts takes place not to long after Because of Low;Cage has recently received a DUI and is helping out at a farm that belongs to a friend of his coach. While down on the farm he meets the farmers hot daughter Eva who instantly takes a dislike to Cage. Eva has been though a lot because of the lose of her finace and Cage York seems like the last guy she'd ever consider being with.Despite the fact that they both have loads of emotinal baggage this odd pair balances each other out for the better.The charecter are well written and we get a glimpse of the Jax and Sadie and(My Faves) Willow and Marcus.

The cover gives that country feel of someone looking out onto the farm.It ties in to the story perfectly you can just imagine Cage sweaty just waiting for Eva and her lemonade after working hard in the sun. This book is a little more racy then the previous books but fans of Abbie Glines and new readers will definitely enjoy this book.I would recommend this book to anyone but it's better suited for a older teen audience 17 or up.Also despite the fact that all of Albi Glines books in the Sea Breeze series seem to all follow the same cheesy and sometime cliche formula I can't get enough of them.3/5

Title:How I Paid for College

It's 1983 in Wallingford, New Jersey, a sleepy bedroom community outside of Manhattan. Seventeen-year-old Edward Zanni, a feckless Ferris Bueller-type, is Peter Panning his way through a carefree summer of magic and mischief, sending underwear up flagpoles and re-arranging lawn animals in compromising positions. The fun comes to a screeching halt, however, when Edward's father remarries and refuses to pay for Edward to study acting at Juilliard.

In a word, Edward's screwed. He's ineligible for scholarships because his father earns too much. He's unable to contact his mother because she's somewhere in Peru trying to commune with the Incan spirits. And, in a sure sign he's destined for a life in the arts, Edward's incapable of holding down a job.

So Edward turns to his loyal (but immoral) misfit theater pals to help him steal the tuition money from his father.Along the way Edward also learns the value of friendship, hard work and how you're not really a man until you can beat up your father. (Metaphorically, that is.)

Cover: Passing by this book on a shelf at the library you can't help but notice it sitting there.The cover is loud,intriguing and some might say obnoxious(in a good way). The cover definitely does justice to the story since the story.
My Thoughts: The title instantly drew me in and the inside jacket kept me hooked.The story is ridiculous and far fetched but I absolutely love it.Some parts had me dying of laughter,then the others were heart warming and cute.This book is great for a pick me up but if you're not a fan of books with to much sex scenes and hook-ups this book might not be for you. 3/5

Cover:The cover is of a guy loosing his tie and I feel that this ties in with the book quite nicely.The book is about figuring your self out while dealing with the stress that comes along with life,highschool and deciding what to do next.
My Thoughts: I just finished reading the book above about Edward Zanni and his goal to get to Julliard so when i came across Lucky Fools and realized it had some focus on Julliard i decided to give it a try.I'm glad i did it was a different read for me and I enjoyed it.Reading this you can't help but become invested in David's life.I liked the message that the book built up to and how the ending was a bit of a surprise.This book had me laughing out loud on minute and contemplating my  life choices  the next 4/5

What Lies Beneath

I recently got into the new show on ABC called Once Upon A Time its a pretty good show that ties in with alot of fairytale.Not to long ago a episode featured a mermaid so since I haven't put up a short list in a while and i have mermaids on the mind that's what todays list is going to be about.

Mermaids & Selkies whats not to love?

I can't wait to read this book the first two were pretty good.

Oooh a book from a guys Pov

Twenty Boy Summer

According to her best friend Frankie, twenty days in ZanzibarBay is the perfect opportunity to have a summer fling, and if they meet one boy ever day, there's a pretty good chance Anna will find her first summer romance. Anna lightheartedly agrees to the game, but there's something she hasn't told Frankie—-she's already had that kind of romance, and it was with Frankie's older brother, Matt, just before his tragic death one year ago.


I heard about this book before but i never really gave it a second thought but then i read Fixing Delilah by Sarah Ockler and i figured I'd give Twenty Boy Summer a shot.I have to say I'm definitely glad i decide to read this book.
The cover is cute and sweet and i honesty didn't realize that the pieces of the heart were supposed to represent sea glass till almost the end, I thought they were bits of paper or post-its.

The story revoles around  Anna and Frankie.I absolutely loved both characters.Frankie's was  spunky,flirty but still fragile.Then there was Anna the narrator who was in love with Matt and had a brief relationship with him before he died but never told a soul, which is completely heartbreaking i definently could never hold something like that in for so long.Matt wasn't alive for much of the story but Matt's presence through memories and flashbacks lets you know him just as well as Frankie or Anna.

Anna and Frankie have practically grown up together and share everything with one another. Except for the fact that Anna has always been in love with Frankie’s brother Matt.So on the day of  Anna's fifteen birthday Matt and her share a kiss;after that they start up a secret relationship they don't want to hide it but Matt's worried about what Frankie's his little sister will say so they promise to keep it a secret till the summer.Matt's supposed to tell Frankie when they go on vacation for the summer but then Matt dies before they can reveal the truth.

Just one year later the girls are going out to the beach house were Frankie and Matts family always went to this is the fist time since Matt died.Frankie thinks they should have a twenty buy summer Anna agrees but is still in love with Matt she doesn't think she can move on.

I honestly didn't expect this book to be so heart breaking beautiful.This book made me laugh,cry,laugh then cry a little more.When Anna accepted the idea of the Twenty Boy summer i wanted to hit her i thought she should have just told Frankie then and there but I'm glad she didn't.Cause i she didn't she would have never met Sam.I adore Sam's character and how he helped Anna but i wish  there was a bit more dialogue between the two of them. 

Whether the secret finally does come out, well, I’ll let you read and discover that for yourself.I would recommend this book to any one teens or adults. The book is adorable and tragic its all about the meaning of friendship, grief and forgiveness.I cant believe i put off reading this book for so long. 5/5
