Bullying is an awful thing that happens quite often sadly.I recently came across the video above called To This Day by Shane Koyczan that I feel has a great message regarding bullying. After watching it I decided to spread the word about two great books that people should check out.

13 Reasons Why
Jay Asher
Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers thirteen cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker, his classmate and crush who committed suicide two weeks earlier.

On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he'll find out how he made the list.

6 Seconds of Life
Tonya Fitzharris

Maura has just jumped.
Now she has precisely six seconds until she hits the water below her--just six more seconds until she is finally freed from her mundane and aimless existence. Freed of all of the regrets and disappointments that have haunted her throughout her nineteen years.

She just needs to be free.
But as she falls, the most pivotal points of her life start to replay like a movie in her head: her family falling apart, her first love, her first heartbreak, and her first betrayal. As she remembers these moments that brought her to this point, will she feel a sense of peace? Or will her death be her greatest regret?

Post your comments on the video I'm interested in what people thought or comment on a book you would refer regarding bullying.

Waiting on Wednesday(25)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine, and specifically spotlights upcoming novels we can't wait to read. As always, there are some amazing upcoming books, but this week I'm particularly excited for...

Author:Bridget Zinn
Release Date:March 12,2013
Publisher:Disney Hyperion

Sixteen-year-old Kyra, a highly-skilled potions master, is the only one who knows her kingdom is on the verge of destruction—which means she’s the only one who can save it. Faced with no other choice, Kyra decides to do what she does best: poison the kingdom’s future ruler, who also happens to be her former best friend.

But, for the first time ever, her poisoned dart misses...

Now a fugitive instead of a hero, Kyra is caught in a game of hide-and-seek with the king’s army and her potioner ex-boyfriend, Hal. At least she’s not alone. She’s armed with her vital potions, a too-cute pig, and Fred, the charming adventurer she can’t stop thinking about. Kyra is determined to get herself a second chance (at murder), but will she be able to find and defeat the princess before Hal and the army find her?

So that's what I'm waiting on I love stories when the damsel is the kickass one.

Last semester while attending WIU instead of coming home for spring break and partaking in the stereotypical actions of a college student.I decided to sign up for the STLF tour offered by the school.STLF stands for Students Today Leader Forever and on the tour you travel to different states volunteering and helping out different communities.

While on the tour I met many amazing and kind people who I'm glad to have shared a wonderful experience with. One of the people I met was Amanda"Cash" Cashman who was the facutly adviser. She's a funny kind person who even has her own dance move and s it turns out her sister Missy is just as invested as helping people out as well. For her 30th birthday Missy is celebrating by hosting the first ever region-wide Variety Show in southwest Montana. This is 100% local talent coming together to raise funds and awareness for our local YMCA and their youth programs. She dreams big and invited Ellen Degeneres!

Casey Barnes Eponymous

 Title: Casey Barnes Eponymous
Author: E.A Rigg

It's three weeks into the school year when music junkie Casey Barnes gets a second chance with her mysterious, heartbreaking ex-boyfriend. She comes up with a plan to win him back, but it soon spins out of control as rivalries, revelations about him, and music itself all start to collide.

For Casey the new found attention means learning the difference between wanting center stage and actually being on it.

Casey Barnes is a typical high-school sophomore she's blunt, impulsive and a bit of a mess at times. She likes to make 3 song lists and slip them into peoples books, I think it's a way of spreading new and different music into their lives. This is probably the one redeeming thing about Casey otherwise I found her character to be annoying and naive. She did have her moments and all in all she was alright.

The ex she wants back is  Alex Deal who is the sexy high school musician of her dreams. They had a brief-and I mean really brief-thing in the summer and she wants him back despite that every about him screams bad news.So she uses song lists, lies, and her charm to attempt to get him.Eventually she puts a band together to impress him at the talent show. Thanks to her bandmate-espeacialy Ben- and her friends, Casey starts to wonder if Alex is all that great. The characters are pretty likeable but seem flat and predictable. My favorite was Casey's brother Yule I would love to read his story.

I absolutely love the cover it almost seems like a photograph.Looking at it I can just picture Casey working on her rock star vibe standing on the amp.The book was quick witted and fast paced it definitely came across like your typical some what cliche high school movie. Casey Barnes Eponymous is a pretty sweet, lighthearted book to read.Perfect for any music lover who will enjoy finding new songs to listen too. Also it is self-published it is only available as an ebook, thanks to the author emailing me I had the chance of reading Casey Barnes Eponymous and I'm glad I did. 2/5
