Review: The Unliklies by Carrie Firestone

Title: The Unliklies
Author: Carrie Firestone

One good deed will change everything.

Sadie is not excited for the summer before her senior year. It will be her first without her college-bound best friend and (now ex-)boyfriend by her side, so Sadie braces herself for a long, lonely, and boring season working at a farm stand in the Hamptons. But things take an unexpected turn when Sadie steps in to help rescue a baby in peril and footage of her impromptu good deed goes viral.

As she’s recovering from “the incident” and adjusting to her Internet fame, Sadie receives an invitation to a lunch honoring teem homegrown heroes. The five honorees instantly connect and soon decide to spend their time together righting local wrongs. Sadie and her new friends embark on escalating acts of vigilante Good Samaritanism, but might be in over her heads when they try to help a heroin-addicted friend. Are good intentions enough to hold unlikely friendships—and an even unlikelier new romance—together?

************************
Sadie's life changes when she saves a baby, and risks her life while doing it. After the incident Sadie gets invited to a luncheon for being a hero, and meets four students who were also being awarded for doing good things. Jean, Gordie, Alice, and Val become her friends for the rest of the summer, and start a chain of good deeds, staring an anonymous group called "The Unlikelies"

This is a light, summer read featuring positive teen hijinks and sugary sweet romance. Sadie is a sweet character who just wants to do her best. What I liked about all the characters in The Unlikelies is that they seemed like genuine do gooder teens who still have a lot to learn.Even though at the start the characters didn't really know each other, they were there for each other in the darkest of times (Alice's drug addict best friends, Val's boyfriend, and Jean's loss of his father). Yeah there were some heavy problems each teen dealt with.

My favorite thing about this book is the characters and how dam wholesome everything was in The Unlikelis. . My least favorite thing was the romance between Gordie and Sadie it was so bland it could have been oatmeal.Anyway while i did like this book it's probally not something I'd reread 2.5
