Review:Wicked Lovely

Title: Wicked Lovely
Author: Melissa Marr

Publisher: HarperTeen

Rule #3: Don't stare at invisible faeries.
Aislinn has always seen faeries. Powerful and dangerous, they walk hidden in the mortal world. Aislinn fears their cruelty - especially if they learn of her Sight - and wishes she were as blind to their presence as other teens.

Rule #2: Don't speak to invisible faeries.
Now faeries are stalking her. One of them, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer.

Rule #1: Don't ever attract their attention.
But it's too late. Keenan is the Summer King, who has sought his queen for nine centuries. Without her, summer itself will perish. He is determined that Aislinn will become the Summer Queen at any cost — regardless of her plans or desires.

Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line: her freedom; her best friend, Seth; her life; everything.

The Wicked Lovely series is one of my favorites and every now and then I'll get the urge to reread the whole series and it never gets old.Last Time I reread the series was last year and now months later for the third time I find myself being pulled  in to The Wicked Lovely world all over again. With all that being said I definitely didn't remember the series to be so melodramatic.

The books main character is Aislinn who has the ability to see faeries(fey) and so far by following a strict set of rules she has avoided their attention. Then bam out of nowhere the fey are everywhere. There are four characters narrating the story. Aislinn is one, Keenan another, Donia who is the last girl who touched the winter staff and got consumed by the frost and now she's the winter girl, and lastly, Seth, Aislinn's boyfriend of sorts. All the characters are pretty likable but at times I was over Keenan and his stalking ways. The book was pretty quick paced and kept your attention for the most part.

I liked the concept of the book and the ideas behind the faeries mythology Marr created. She created a captivating world filled with high stakes and cool fairy lore. The cover is quite lovely I enjoy how the girl in the background is out of focus and the frosted flower is in the forefront.Melissa Marr is one of my favorite authors and would definitely recommend Wicked Lovely to my friends. 3/5
