Theme Of The Day: Mermaids and Sirens Oh My

 I haven't done a theme of the day in a very long and when I say in a very long time what I mean is I haven't done a theme of the day in years !!! Without planning I have read two books regarding mermaids & sirens almost back to that...so thanks to that coincidence I decided to do a theme of the day.

This posts theme of the day focuses on one of my favorite mythical creatures...the Mermaid!! Enjoy!

Title: Emerge

The Cover: The cover is absolutely breathe taking.My favorite part is how monochromatic it is and the sparkles around the title.

My Thoughts: Emerge took the whole little mermaid tale and flipped it on its head. I adored this book and the characters ,Lia was a sweetheart and had a lot of tough choices thrown her way. Not going to lie based on the synopsis I wasn't expecting that plot twist.The ending was a tearjerker, I can't wait to read the next book Submerge it comes out September 12th 2017!!!!! 3/5

The Cover: Beautiful cover it could almost be a photo. Not going to lie though I can't help but laugh at the fact that Emerge and The Siren have similar cover concepts. Those mermaids sure like hold up their dresses staring long-fully at the seas.
My Thoughts: The Siren was a lovely book to read.I loved the vivid imagery it inspired and all the feels I had while reading. My favorite part of the book was learning about the back stories of Kahlen and all the sirens.Making the Ocean this sentient thing was really cool,since I haven't seen it done all that much.The Oceans idea of love was intense and a bit frightening,and I couldn't help but think of a really toxic relationship.  The ending was heartbreakingly sweet and couldn't have been better. 5/5

Review: A Psalm for Lost Girls

Generally I shy away from books with too many feels, religion, boy problems, romantical themes? Yeah, generally not for me but A Psalm for Lost Girls, definitely took me by surprise. From the moment I picked up the book, I couldn’t put it down. Tess was not your average teenager, she was a girl plagued with visions, and voices. Totally normal...she saves one person and BAM! She’s a new saint in the making, that part makes me cringe. We see a desperate town, and a mother, who need something or someone to believe in, and Tess fits the bill. We only get glimpses of Tess, because the story is told by Callie, Tess’s sister. We hear from Tess in excerpts from her diary, and other people's perceptions of her. I would have loved to hear this story from Tess’s point of view. I did enjoy the book, and can’t wait to read more by Katie Bayerl. 4/5

 For the most part this book was confusing to read, it was definitely organized chaos from beginning to end. Bobby is your typical good’ole boy from the south, who is probably suffering from PTSD but drinks his problems away. Bobby gets in a car crash, and finds himself re-living the day of his death. In this limbo so to speak Bobby finds others, who like him have tragic stories. Everything is not what it seems, Bobby and the others learn they must face there past, if they wish to move on. This was not a light read like I thought, it was very real. I finished this book in one day, I loved the redemption, atonement, love, and reconciliation themes, in this book. At first I didn’t understand why Bobby would accept this truth but as Bobby begins to tell his story we find out why, limbo was easier to believe than his reality. Some of the book was written like, lessons? Some of this book left me in dark, because the themes were very heavy, and not what was expected for a YA book. This lead me to believe that this book is more for an Adult audience. 2.5/5

YA Book to Movie Adaptions

So lately there has been so many Ya book to movie adaptions!! I am absolutely here for it.I love it when my fave YA books can come to life on the big screen.I'm also a huge fan when YA books I've never heard of graces the big screen because that just give me an excuse to check out a book I've never heard of before.

A few ya book to movie adaptions that are already out or coming out are The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas ,Dumpling by Julie Murphy Everything,Everything by Nicola Yoon ,Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli Hearing about this book to movie adaption made me want to put together a wishlist of sorts of books I think would make awesome movies.So here ya  go.Hope you enjoy!!

I think with that along with The Hate You Give this book would shake up the box office and shed some light on topics that you don't see in big budget movie.

This would make an excellent movie.I loved reading this book and kinda wish I could see it on the big screen

There is definitely nothing like this book.The book touches on concepts that are relate-able  that not many people speak about and seeing it on the big screen would spotlight these issues and start a conversation.

There are so many Peter Pan movies out there which is great but...it would rock if the ladies like Tiger Lily and Wendy hard their own movie.Tiger Lily would make an awesome movie.

Gideon Davorin’s Traveling Show has come to town for one reason and one reason only. It’s broke as hell. An offer of a week-long gig with a hefty paycheck has the caravan rolling and ready to give the locals something they won't soon forget . . . . So I love Amanda Hocking and anything she write so when I found out about Freeks I was all over it.Sadly Freeks was a bit underwhelming.I enjoyed Freeks but it definitely wasn't what I was expecting. 

Mara is the main character and as far as main characters go she was great.The characters in Freeks even the secondary characters all shined and had very distinct characterizations. Gabe was Maras love interest and I thought the romance between them was adorable.Not going to lie my heart broke for Gab at the end.The twist surrounding his family was nuts.A part of me hopes Freeks is a standalone but anoter part of me would love a spin off about the other characters that are a part of Gideon Davorin’s Traveling Carnival.

The cover for Freeks is absolutely fucking breathtaking.I love how the girls dress is a part of the big top.Not going to lie besides the fact that Amanda Hocking wrote Freeks the over is also what drew me in and made me want to read the book.This was a fun read, if not a bit cliché ...The ending was meh and a little cool at the same time.I would recommend to anyone a fan of circusesqe book and Amanda Hocking. 2/5
