Review: The Wicked Deep

Title: The Wicked Deep
Author: Shea Ernshaw
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Released: March 6th, 2018

Welcome to the cursed town of Sparrow…

Where, two centuries ago, three sisters were sentenced to death for witchery. Stones were tied to their ankles and they were drowned in the deep waters surrounding the town.

Now, for a brief time each summer, the sisters return, stealing the bodies of three weak-hearted girls so that they may seek their revenge, luring boys into the harbor and pulling them under.

Like many locals, seventeen-year-old Penny Talbot has accepted the fate of the town. But this year, on the eve of the sisters’ return, a boy named Bo Carter arrives; unaware of the danger he has just stumbled into.

Mistrust and lies spread quickly through the salty, rain-soaked streets. The townspeople turn against one another. Penny and Bo suspect each other of hiding secrets. And death comes swiftly to those who cannot resist the call of the sisters.

But only Penny sees what others cannot. And she will be forced to choose: save Bo, or save herself.

The Wicked Deep was pretty imaginative, enchanting,  and beautifully eerie. I was hooked from the start.

The book takes place in a town called Sparrow and way back when three sisters were accused of being witches , for their ability to easily seduce married men. They were drowned and because of what was done to them, every year for three weeks starting in June 1st until the summer solstice. The sister posses 3 girls and drown the boys of Sparrow. Not going to lie I loved the fact that the town just passively excepts the fact that every summer a boatload of boys are going to die and 3 girls are going to be possessed

The story revolves around Penny and Bo and the mystery of who's possessed and how to stop the Swan sisters. The romance in The Wicked deep was sweet and also pretty tragic...that plot twist took me by surprised and I almost died. Seriously the ending of this book! Oh my god. I can’t stop thinking about it. Again, SO MANY FEELS.

The cover is so perfect and if you get the hardback of this book then what is under the book jacket is just s freaking pretty.I have so much to say about The wicked Deep but I can't without spoiling it. So I will say that everyone needs to go read this novel!!!4.5/5
