Waiting on Wedsneday (22)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine, and specifically spotlights upcoming novels we can't wait to read. As always, there are some amazing upcoming books, but this week I'm particularly excited for...

Title: Requiem (Delirium 3)
Author:Lauren Oliver
Release Date: March 5th 2013
Publisher: HarperTee

Now an active member of the resistance, Lena has been transformed. The nascent rebellion that was under way in Pandemonium has ignited into an all-out revolution in Requiem, and Lena is at the center of the fight.

After rescuing Julian from a death sentence, Lena and her friends fled to the Wilds. But the Wilds are no longer a safe haven—pockets of rebellion have opened throughout the country, and the government cannot deny the existence of Invalids. Regulators now infiltrate the borderlands to stamp out the rebels, and as Lena navigates the increasingly dangerous terrain, her best friend, Hana, lives a safe, loveless life in Portland as the fiancée of the young mayor. Requiem is told from both Lena’s and Hana’s points of view. The two girls live side by side in a world that divides them until, at last, their stories converge.

So that's what i'm waiting on.

Books to Movies

Lately it seems like there has been a lot of YA book to movie adaptions like: I am Number Four, Beastly, The Hunger Games and Perks of Being a Wall Flower. Most recently the trailer for City of Bones from The Immortal Instruments series came out and The Beautiful Creature trailer as well. Personally I'm a bit more excited for City of Bones then Beautiful Creatures. I’m a big fan of Cassandra Claire's shadow hunters and can't wait to see how everything looks on the big screen.

So because of the surge of YA book to movie adaptions I wanted to make a post about books that I would love to see get turned in to a movie!

1.The Iron Fey Series because there has yet to be a movie about fey/faeries and the books from this series would be amazing to see come alive on screen.

As Meaghan Chase I picture someone like Dakota Fanning.Or maybe Bridgit mendler

So Ash is  lean, muscular and tall with thick, tossled jet-black hair and I could totally see Tom Felton as Ash since he pulled of the smirk so well as Draco. Or If not then Avan Jogia despite the fact that Ash is supposed to have pale skin.

I'm not sure who I could see as Puck since he's described as  is tall, lean, and lanky with spiky crimson hair and bright green eyes.I can't think of many real Ginger acters.I could see Nick Roux  from Jane by Design possibly being Puck if he dyed his hair.

2.Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver this book has the makings of a perfect teen flick filled with mean girls, high school, drama, lots of heart and a moral that I think everyone could relate with.

I'm not sure who i'd pick for Sam it would have to be someone that could pull of the whole the kinda-bitchy, used-to-be-dorky popular girl thing maybe Liam Meester

When I picture Kent I imagine someone like Matt Bennett who plays Robbie on Victorious Or possibly the singer Joe Brooks.

A few more books that i wouldn't mind being turn into movies are Wicked Lovey Series because I'm a fan of the Fey.& The Firelight Series because who cares about shape-shifting werewolfs I'd much  rather watch people turn into Dragons.

What books would you love see on the big screen??Leave a comment below.:)

While It Last

Title: While It Last
Author.Abbi Glines

Maybe driving home after a few (or more) shots of tequila had been a bad idea, but hell, he did it all the time. The cops had to have been freaking bored to have pulled him over. He wasn’t even swerving! That’s Cage York’s story and he’s sticking to it.

Unfortunately, his baseball coach isn’t buying it. Cage has a free ride to the local junior college for baseball -- or he did, until he’d gotten a DUI. Now, Cage has to decide: does he drop out and give up his dream of getting noticed by a college in the SEC, and possibly making it into the Major Leagues -- or does he give in to his coach’s demands and spend his summer baling hay?

Eva Brooks planned out her life step by step when she was eight years old. Not once over the years had she lost sight of her goals. Josh Beasley, her next door neighbor, had been the center of those goals. He’d been her first boyfriend at seven, her first kiss at ten, her first date at fifteen, and her first tragedy at eighteen. The moment she’d received the phone call from Josh’s mother saying he’d been killed along with four other soldiers just north of Baghdad, Eva’s carefully planned life imploded in the worst way possible.

Cage isn’t real happy with his closet-sized bedroom in the back of a foul smelling barn, or his daily interactions with cows, but he knows that if he doesn’t make his coach happy then he can kiss his scholarship goodbye. Only a sick and twisted man would decide his punishment was to be working on a farm all summer. No hot babes in bikinis waiting to meet a Southern boy to make her vacation complete. Just him and the damned cows.

Oh -- and an uptight, snarky brunette with the biggest blue eyes he’s every seen. But she doesn’t count, because as hard as he’s tried to charm her out of her panties - he’s pretty sure she’d rather see him hung from the rafters than let him get a taste of her pretty little lips

***********
So ever since reading Breathe and the Vincent Boy series  I've become hooked on Abbi Glines books.

Breathe was a heart warming  tale about Sadie and Jackson,Because of Low was heartbreaking story about Marcus and Willow with some twist and turns, and While It Lasts is an intense story about Cage and Eva.

Cage York who's described as a sexy bad boy and Eva who's a sweet farm girl who is dealing with a lot emotionally. In Because of Low Cage was introduced as this womanizing man whore with a protective streak when it came to Low. In While it Lasts we learn that Cage York is more then a man whore with a big dose of bad boy edge he is loyal, caring, and deep down has a heart of gold for his loved ones

While it Lasts takes place not to long after Because of Low;Cage has recently received a DUI and is helping out at a farm that belongs to a friend of his coach. While down on the farm he meets the farmers hot daughter Eva who instantly takes a dislike to Cage. Eva has been though a lot because of the lose of her finace and Cage York seems like the last guy she'd ever consider being with.Despite the fact that they both have loads of emotinal baggage this odd pair balances each other out for the better. The charecter are well written and we get a glimpse of the Jax and Sadie and(My Faves) Willow and Marcus.

The cover gives that country feel of someone looking out onto the farm.It ties in to the story perfectly you can just imagine Cage sweaty just waiting for Eva and her lemonade after working hard in the sun. This book is a little more racy then the previous books but fans of Abbie Glines and new readers will definitely enjoy this book.I would recommend this book to anyone but it's better suited for a older teen audience 17 or up.Also despite the fact that all of Albi Glines books in the Sea Breeze series seem to all follow the same cheesy and sometime cliche formula I can't get enough of them.3/5

  2. C. L Causer  I was emailed  by the author  about the book Power Within- and I'm glad because it was a pretty good read.
  3. Jodi Picoult So I know it's hard to believe but Jodi Picoult is slighty new to me and before this year I haven’t read one of her books. Yes... I've read My Sister's Keeper but only after I saw the movie so I’m going to say that it didn't count.
  4. Erin Downing  One again I have to thank Goodreads for introducing me to this author and her  book None of the Regular Rules.
  5. Jessica Thompson  I read her debut novel This is a Love Story  thanks to the library and I'm glad i didn't can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
  6. Melissa Andrea I have to thank one of my fellow bloggers for helping me discover this author. If I remembered who it was I would give a shout out. Sorry.

Crewel

 Title: Crewel
Author:Gennifer Albin

Enter a tangled world of secrets and intrigue where a girl is in charge of other’s destinies, but not her own.

Sixteen-year-old Adelice Lewys has always been special. When her parents discover her gift—the ability to weave the very fabric of reality—they train her to hide it. For good reason, they don’t want her to become a Spinster — one of the elite, beautiful, and deadly women who determine what people eat, where they live, how many children they have, and even when they die.

Thrust into the opulent Western Coventry, Adelice will be tried, tested and tempted as she navigates the deadly politics at play behind its walls.  Now caught in a web of lies and forbidden romance, she must unravel the sinister truth behind her own unspeakable power.  Her world is hanging by a thread, and Adelice, alone, can decide to save it — or destroy it

 *******

So people always say don't judge a book by the cover but I'm not going to lie with this book thats exactly what i did.I noticed the weird name then all the pretty colors and pounced-not literally-on the book. After staing at the cover like a crazy person  for a bit I checked out the book jacket and decided to read Crewel The concept was interesting, the time-weaving thing was pretty creative Crewel takes place in a  dystopian world that has a lot of time-weavers:Spinsters that are in charge of everyone's life but powerless in their own life and were women seem to be second class citizens.

The story takes place in Arras were Spinsters are prized for their beauty and talent at weaving. every thing is supposedly perfect and you have no choice then do as your expected.Adelice Lewys is  different then most girls she could be powerful, beautiful and a spinster but she doesn't want that life. After testing she has no choice and gets sent to the Coventry and that's where thing get interesting.Adelice's character is:strong, sassy, and a bit naive every now and then.Adelice is an intriguing character who has so many beliefs and morals that she follows despite the risks.

Once in the Coventry she meet a variety of people that she's unsure of who to trust,I enjoy how the characters are set up and how not everything is how it seems.Josten and Erik are two people Adelice meets and then  the love triangle begins. I am not against love triangles if they serve a purpose in the story and don't come off as cliche but this one fell flat for me.It felt forced and maybe unnecessary but even with that being said both boys are great characters that I can see the appeal in them.

By the end of Crewel you'll be asking your self "What. Did. I. Just. Read?"  I know that's exactly what i did.Crewel is imaginative, captivating.has a bit of a dark side and pepper with a hint of Sci fye.
Overall, I really liked Crewel after the surge of dystopian  novels that sprung out of know where Crewel stands out. I think dystopian fans- like myself -who are looking for something completely different, will eat this up and be pulled in by the cover as well as the story.4/5

The Raven Boys

 Title: The Raven Boys
Author: Maggie Stiefvater

“There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Mark’s Eve,” Neeve said. “Either you’re his true love . . . or you killed him.”

It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive.

Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

 *****

I've read other Maggie Stiefvater books and enjoyed them so when i saw The Raven Boys at the library i decide to give it a try.  After reading the jacket cover i became intrigued and by all the good  reviews it has received.Soon though I  realize that the plot had very little to do with what this synopsis describes.I thought that it would focus on  Blue and Gansey's romance and on her possibly killing him with a kiss with a little adventure and mystery tossed in.The story was more to do with a hunt for an ancient king who will grant a favor to the one who wakes him then any one love life though it was mentioned every now and then.

Blue Sargent is a non-seer but has the gift of being able to amplify other seers powers. On the Eve of St. Mark’s Day Blue's mother who is a clairvoyant but also typical mom is her own way sits watch over the churchyard all night. To watch the ghosts of those that will be passing over in the next year. This year while ther Blue sees a boy named Gansey and the only time a non seer sees someone is if its true love or they killed them.I liked Blues character she was strong, loyal and sweet. The characters in the Raven Boys were well thought out and i liked how they all felt so real. The dynamic of Blues house  was  interesting and everyone living there is so eccentric. The story starts out from Blues perceptive then alternates between Adam,Gansey and Barrington Whelk.
The raven boys who invade Blues life include Gansey, who is obsessed with the supernatural he's the ringleader. Then there's Adam whose desperate for a life outside what he knows and is determined to get there on his own. Ronan is next he's angry, blunt, can fight and is probably my favorite raven boy so far.He seem like a loose canon whose  anger hides untold regret but is always there for his buddies. Last but not least is Noah  a troubled but sweet soul who is always grubby looking and seems to knows more than he lets on.:his back-story breaks my heart a bit.

The Raven Boys is a book filled with depth and emotion and was definitely a page turner for me.I'm hooked and can't wait for the next one to arrive so i can get my hands on it.By the end of the story  I had so many questions and not enough answers. This book will intrigue any one if they give it a chance.5/5

The Girl

Title:The Girl (Guardians #1)

Author:

After his death, Marcus found the love of his life...

Unfortunately it's not his sexy, telekinetic angel girlfriend --- it's Emmy Baxter... a human.

Between torture, demon attacks, and midterms, Marcus and Emily must fight their feelings for a devastating prophecy has predicted:

"Should Angel and Human unite, humanity will perish."

*******
One of the best things about this book was how different it was from other angel books. When the author sent me the book to check out i didnt really have high expectations i thought it was going to be some cliche angel story. There is emotions of all sorts, action, adventure and a bit of a love triangle. This book is definitely not like other Angel books i blame the Synopsis it doesn't do the book justice the ones. The book is well written and very additive and the  characters are well developed that are intriguing.
At the end of Part one, I absolutely felt my heart go out to Emmy but at the same time she bothered me alot. She's 15 and so obsessively in love with Marcus,so she can get a bit annoying from time to time. She is also destined to help save the world Emmy is a bookish shy girl who is introduced to six teenaged angels with powers, called Guardians. She is the key to help finding what they need to save everyone. The characters are a blast and my Favorite would have to be Jay and Miku. The first and third sections are told from the female Emmys’s point of view and the second from the view of Marcus, the head angel of the Guardians.
At the end of Part 2 i saw were Marcus was coming from and i liked him a bit more then in part one: were i thought he was a jerk.It was interesting to get thing from Macus's point of view but slightly confusing since when i read part two i felt like I was rereading everything  from part one.
Part Three Is filled wiiith action scenes and would be my favorite part of the whole story. The ending was a cliff hanger and i'm definetly going to read the next book.

Overall I liked the story especially how different from most Angel book it is.I'm not really a fan of the whole love triangle in the book or the whole love at first sight thing since it came of as a bit cliche but the story was enjoyable non the less.2/5

So I just read the Lost Prince which is in the same world as the Iron Fey series

Theme of the day:Iron Fey Novellas

So today theme of the day post is a bit different that its not two books but two short novella. Both were oringially ebooks but were renctly put in print along with the story Summers Crossing.I'm only going to talk about two of the novellas since i already posted a reveiw on Summers Crossing Here

In the Iron Legends you can find the  three novellas set in the world of the Iron Fey plus the Guide to the Iron Fey with exclusive information about Julie Kagawa's unforgettable world of Faery.Along with a brief expert from The Lost Prince.

Winter's Passage1.5
Never make a promise to a faery. They always come to collect. Now Meghan Chase must fulfill her promise to Prince Ash of the Winter Court and embark upon a dangerous journey into the heart of enemy territory—while being pursued by a relentless new foe and guarding her own foolish heart.

So it's been awhile since I've read the first book in the iron fey series so rereading Winter Passage was a bit of a trip and a refresher. When I first read Winter passage it was new and exciting and it  held me over in till the next novel The Iron Daughter. Now even after reading the whole series it stilll feels new and exciting but also like a trip though memory lane.
The Cover: You can tell it's a novella because Meghan isn't on the cover and it has an animal on it.The cover fits with the story nicely and i love how it has a wolf on the cover.
My Thoughts:
Winter Passage starts right after The Iron King ends.Meaghan has to fulfill her end of the bargain with Ash they encounter resistance and problems in just a few pages, and the story ends with Meghan  at the Winter's Court.4/5

Iron's Prophecy 4.5
Before she ever knew what she might become, Iron Queen Meghan Chase was warned by the oracle that her firstborn child would bring nothing but grief. And even as Meghan and Ash celebrate their long-awaited union, the prophecy stirs.…

Meghan Chase is finally getting used to being the Iron Queen, ruler of the Iron Fey. Her life may be strange, but with former Winter prince Ash by her side at last, she wouldn’t have it any other way.
But when they travel to the Summer and Winter courts’ gathering for Elysium, the oracle from Meghan’s past returns with a dire prophecy
The Cover:The cover like all the Novella and Novel covers includes vines and like all the Novellas it includes a animal which is a snake.Which i see fitting after reading the short story.
My Thoughts: So unlike Winters Passage and Summer Crossing the Iron's Prophecy was all new to me. It takes place not long after the Iron Knight and way before The Lost Prince. The story is told from Meghan point of view and tells the tale of  her,Pucks and Ash's journey to find out more about the prophecy.I would like to say more but I'm not sure how i could without giving away something.I will say this that this story got me though my Puck and Ash withdrawal and i love how Meaghan got all Queenly and even more bad ass then before. This story answers some questions from The Iron Knight and leaves plenty of more that hopefully be answer in Julie Kagawa's new series featuring Ethan Chase Meaghan little brother.5/5
