The realm’s darkest secret is out.

On the run in a foreign land, Bleak finds herself tied to some unexpected strangers. When the answers she yearns for are finally within reach, she must face the hard truths of her past, and take her fate into her own hands before it’s too late.

Meanwhile, secrets and magic unravel as a dark power corrupts the realm. Bleak’s friends are forced to decide where their loyalties lie, and who, if anyone, they can trust.

But one thing is certain: war is coming, and they must all be ready when it does.

Intriguing and action-packed, Reign of Mist is the second instalment in Helen Scheuerer’s epic YA fantasy series, The Oremere Chronicles.

About the Author
Helen Scheuerer is a YA fantasy author from Sydney, Australia. Reign of Mist is the second book in her high fantasy trilogy, The Oremere Chronicles. After writing literary fiction for a number of years, Helen was inspired to return to her childhood love of fantasy thanks to novels like Throne of Glass, The Queen’s Poisoner and The Queen of the Tearling.

Helen is also the Founding Editor of Writer’s Edit (www.writersedit.com), an online learning platform for emerging writers. In its first year, Writer’s Edit reached thousands of new authors, and soon became its own small press, with Helen overseeing the production and publication of three creative writing anthologies, Kindling Volume I, Volume II and Volume III. It’s now one of the largest writing websites in the world.

Helen’s love of writing and books led her to pursue a Bachelor of Creative Arts, majoring in Creative Writing at the University of Wollongong. While the Kindling books were being published, Helen also completed a Masters of Publishing at the University of Sydney.

Helen now lives by the beach and writes full time. She has many more books planned for the future.

My thoughts..
WOOT WOOT!! Ugh, this post is about #MistPH, normally the sequels are not better than the first book. Most authors cannot give repeat the same "emotions" but somehow Helen does! ROM is better than the first book! I mean Bleak, is still...Bleak but like less bleakish..lol I know but she definitely came into her own in this book. It was amazing to read "see" Bleak become strong, and fight for herself, and those she cares about, without feeling guilty about being selfish. We left off with Bleak sailing into the #Mist with no idea of where she would wash ashore...Welp she lands on Oremere, yep that mystical land/island that is casually taking over everything...Yeah its creepy, cold, and lonely except for the beast she meets and tames. Also she meets Helen's twin sister who is believed to have walked into the mist, and never to be returned....This was a whole cluster**** of feelings for me! Ugh I was so happy that Helen could have her sister back but boy was Helen a complete ***** about it. Jeez but Bleak finds her way back to Helen and the others, where they are trying to turn the tides to a war that it doesn't seem like they will win. My rating 5/5, this book was phenomenal!!

Author Interview:

1. How did you begin writing? Did you intend to become an author, or do you have a specific reason or reasons for writing each book?
I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was about seven years old. I’ve been writing stories ever since then! As for the Oremere Chronicles, I initially wrote Heart of Mist as part of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) as a means of escape from another book I was working on. I haven’t looked back since :)

2.What is your favorite under-appreciated novel?
That’s a difficult one! I really enjoyed S.B. Nova’s A Kingdom of Exiles. She’s a fellow indie author, so I appreciate how hard it is to reach new readers, which is why I always tell people about her book.

3. Which literary character do you most resonate with on a personal level?
Another hard question! If I had to pick one… Maybe Jo March from Little Women?

4. Describe The Oremere Chronicles in 5 words.
Action-packed. Intriguing. Surprising. Fast-paced. Girl-power.
(is it cheating if I use hyphenated words?)

5. Our last question is, what is the best advice you have received as an author or in general?
I’ve received (and given) plenty of writing advice over the years, but the most effective has been this: write what you love reading.
