My thoughts...
I definitely have to be in the mood to read, mysteries but this was a pleasant surprise! A Pilgrimage to Death and A Heritage to Death were my first books by Alexa, and will not be my last.
A Pilgrimage to Death, we meet Reverend Cici, who has just lost her twin sister, and still not over her sisters death. Cici goes to her hometown after finding out that her twin sister is dead, and starts a investigation. Cici starts looking into her sisters death, and looking into people that could've wanted t harm her sister. Then she starts receiving dead birds on her doorstep, some members of her church tart dying, and she starts receiving warning notes. Before Cici decided to go home, was planning an adventure in South America, with her boyfriend. Cici gets help with the investigation from Sam, a local detective who wants to solve the murders that've been happening. Not to like spoil anything...but help from the beyond, is totally a thing! This is not your average mystery, there is a paranormal aspect too! Supernatural meets paranormal meets mystery and with a religious main character. This was a great read, the character development, and the mysterious town of Santa Fe. I didn't even talk about the killer or the other victims!! Definitely check it out! Rating 4/5
A Heritage to Death, Cici is back but still grieving from the loss of her twin sister, and a few church members. Cici gets to explore her twin bond more, we learn that Cici and Anna have always been linked or bonded. Meaning that they could always feel each others emotions, and pain. So of course when Anna was in danger Cici could tell, and it's what brought her back to their hometown in A Pilgrimage to Death. Now that Anna is gone, Cici can still feel her sometimes, more like her presence. Anna is trying to help Cici from the grave, to help solve other crimes. Did I mention people were dying left, and right, and missing folks? What leads Cici to helping Detective Sam? Dreams of course, Cici is dreaming about a woman being murdered, and of course a missing baby shows up on her doorstep. They are unable to save the woman in time but will Cici be next or is the killer toying with her.....Rating 5/5
Both books were amazeballs, the characters are great! I can't wait for the next book! I would definitely recommend both books to anyone who loves a good mystery, murder, and possible romantical feelings!!
